Prof. Dr. Maximilian Gege
… has many years of business experiences as an expert on finances and controlling and as a manager for sustainability. From 1984 to 2004 he was the managing director of the German Environmental Management Association (Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V., short B.A.U.M.), which he also co-founded. He has contributed to turn B.A.U.M. into the European business community’s largest environmental initiative. Since 2005 Prof. Dr. Gege is Chairman of B.A.U.M., and he is a director, advisor and juror of various boards. He teaches as a honorary professor at the Department for Environmental Sciences of the University of Lüneburg, Germany.
In the past years Prof. Dr. Gege gained a high degree of credibility and reputation for B.A.U.M., as several important prizes and awards prove. For example, on an international scale, B.A.U.M. has been admitted into the Global 500 Roll of Honour of the United Nations, and its campaign “Going solar – that’s the way” (“Solar – na klar!”) has been cited by the European Commission as the Best National Campaign for Renewable Energy within the framework of its “Campaign for Take-Off” (CTO) for renewable energy sources. On the national level, Prof. Dr. Gege has, for example, received the Special Prize of the Federation of German Industries (Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie) in the category “Environmental Information for Enterprises” for his book Reducing Costs by Environmental Management (Kosten senken durch Umweltmanagement), the Award of the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the IKEA Consumer Award.
Dr. Hans-Jochen Meyer-Ravenstein
… studied agriculture and forestry in Göttingen before spending his forestal trainee time in Lower Saxony. Since 1981 Dr. Meyer-Ravenstein has been the director of the Princely Administration Salm-Horstmar (Fürstliche Verwaltung Salm-Horstmar) in Coesfeld, Germany. As he is also district chairman of the German Association for Forest Protection (Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald), Dr. Meyer-Ravenstein has a profound knowledge of the diverse advantages of forest ecosystems in Germany, and he actively works towards the creation of new forest areas. He also has a private interest in nature, especially in the forestal cultivation of nuts, in ornithology and hunting.
